Phoenix, AZ – Arizona Industries for the Blind (AIB) has shipped more than 5,000 multivitamins with folic acid to people in Arizona in less than four weeks, clearing a year long backlog. The partnership between AIB and Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS), Bureau of Nutrition and Physical Activity (BNPA) create and sustain careers for Arizonans who are blind or visually impaired.
AIB’s Supply Chain Management/Third Party Logistics operation provides world-class fulfillment services to State/Federal agencies and commercial customers, while helping to solve the 70% unemployment rate for Americans who are blind or visually impaired. The
distribution center (DC) team members in Phoenix will receive, store, kit materials from BNPA, and ship items to individuals and partners throughout the state.
“Every day, AIB demonstrates that with the right training, right technology and right attitude, people who are blind are successful in the workplace,” says David Steinmetz, Community and Public Relations Manager.
Through the Arizona Department of Health Services, the PowerMeA2Z folic acid program provides free multivitamins with folic acid to people in Arizona who can get pregnant to help prevent birth defects during pregnancy. Power Me A2Z also provides information and resources on healthy living.
